According to the Massachusetts Association of Realtors:
Condo sales have surged 12 percent in the last year, while single-family home transactions have dropped nearly 8 percent. Has there been a shift in the American Dream?
Instead of a house and yard on a tree-lined street, buyers are increasingly willing to trade acreage and shoveling for low maintenance and better prices. According to the Massachusetts Association of Realtors, July’s statewide median selling price was $287,900 for a condo and $375,000 for a single-family house.
Suddenly, paying a condo fee to have someone else mow the lawn and plow the driveway seems like an affordable luxury.
Condo sales are attracting the following market segments:
- Young Couples
- Growing families
- Empty Nester’s
