New York Lists Real Estate Agents with Disciplinary Actions Against Them

If you are looking for a Real Estate Agent in New York, the Department of State has a new website. This site lists all of the disciplinary hearings and decisions against real estate agents within the state. As licensed professionals, this may be a very good deterrent from agents getting involved in any unscrupulous behavior.
Consumers in New York state can now search online to see whether their real estate agents, barbers or nail salon operators have had disciplinary actions against them.
The state Department of State on Tuesday launched a Web site that lets people search the results of more than 7,500 disciplinary hearings for licensed professionals.
The database includes information collected since 1992 for occupations licensed by the State Department. The decisions may include license denial or revocation, penalties and other determinations.
Larry Sombke, spokesman for the State Department, said the site also lets consumers search whether the businesses they are using are properly licensed.
