Getting the House Ready For Sale

Getting your home ready for sale is a big job, but there are  some tricks that will make the property look its best and get the best selling price. The Boston Herald goes into detail on many of the aspects of preparing your home for sale. I have pulled out the curb appeal section for you to read, but go read over the whole article. Even if you are a seasoned real estate dealer or agent, it is a good refresher  for you.

Experts recommend paying close attention to “curb appeal” – how your home looks when would-be buyers first pull up to the curb. “Here is where you can get the most bang for your buck,” said Terry Hankner, a Cincinnati Realtor. “It’s relatively inexpensive to de-clutter your garage, sweep the driveway, paint the front door, mow the lawn and plant some flowers.”

Landscaping is also key.

Experts say you don’t want to have a lot of brand-new plants. Rather, you want something that looks more mature and established. “Stay away from starter plants – they look like they’ve just been dropped in the ground,” said Lori Matzke of Center Stage Home, a Minneapolis home-presentation company. It’s also important to be aware of your neighborhood’s look.
