The US Census Bureau came out with the state rankings of taxation per capita. The US Average is $2,192.27 dollars per capita of taxes per capita. These numbers in themselves do not mean a whole lot, but if you are looking where to live, this is an indicator of how the states spend you money with taxes.

Hah! We wish. California would rank #4 if what it -spent- rather than what it -collected- were used. Taxes are not revenues, they are expenditures.
