The former basketball star and now mega developer Magic Johnson is tackling a new project, a dual 19 story development in Miami’s Little Havana aimed at minorities. The development will feature nearly 400 condos and 35,000 feet of commercial space, Magic Johnson announced.
Magic Johnson has made a name in development circuits almost as big as the name he made on the basketball court. His development of his Magic Johnson theaters and other projects in urban and predominately minority communities that other developers have overlooked has been both profitable and groundbreaking for the former basketball star.
Johnson is investing in a two-tower, 19-story condominium called Morrison.
Billed as “modern living in the heart of Miami,” the development will consist of 395 condos and include 34,000 feet of commercial retail space.
“Minorities all want to have an opportunity to be homeowners and we’re going to provide that opportunity,” Johnson said. “Workforce housing is important for people who work hard each and everyday, and also have a dream of being a homeowner but maybe have been priced out.”
The development is expected to start in price in the mid-$200,000 range. via Local10.com
