Developer Announces the First Rotating Tower in Dubai

The United Arab Emirates in using the windfall oil profits of the last few years to invest in their infrastructure. The goal is to diversify from the boom and bust economy that oil has provided the past 30 years.

Yesterday, the Dubai Property Ring announced a 30 floor rotating tower. Think of that, 80,000 tons rotating. Boggles the mind the innovation coming out of the United Arab Emirates.

Dubai Property Ring, a reputed real estate firm in Dubai, unveiled the first rotating residential tower in the world, Times Residences, at the City of Arabia, Dubailand in Dubai. The 30-floor building weighing 80,000 ton will have 200 apartments including 1, 2, 3, 4 bedroom houses along with 4 and 5 bedroom luxury penthouses.
Tav Singh, Director, Dubai Property Ring and the developer of the building, said, “This building will represent the very epitome of luxury living, not only will it defy the laws of gravity and momentum, but also it stands to refine the standards for luxury living in the region and the world.” via Gowealthy.com.

  1. OK, so how do they engineer the plumbing? Really though – fascinating what money will buy. The architects who designed this thing must have had to get pretty innovative.

  2. Two such towers were announced in Dubai, not even one is built yet ? what has happened ?

  3. Construction has still not begun… It seems Tav Singh’s proposed 55Time or Time Residences building is finished. He has delayed construction so long the investors are filing claims against him. Based on current precedent, he may end up in jail for a while.
