Top 10 Metro Areas With the Worst Pollution

PollutionLAThe eighth annual air pollution report by the American Lung Association is out and the results are not pretty. The survey measures metropolitan areas that have the worst air pollution. While the survey is designed on scientific principles, scanning through the headlines shows that it is also designed as an advocacy tool.

Over half the regions in the country as deemed unacceptable, so if you want to breathe clean air in the country, at least according to the eighth annual air pollution report by the American Lung Association you best head to mountains or someplace where humans do not live.

  1. Los Angeles, CA
  2. Pittsburgh, PA
  3. Bakersfield, CA
  4. Birmingham, AL
  5. Detriot, MI
  6. Cleveland, OH
  7. Visalia, CA
  8. Cincinnati, OH
  9. Indianapolis, IN
  10. St. Louis, MO

    Well looking on the bright side - I’m glad to see that Visalia is moving down the list. I suppose it depends where the source is getting their data from, but we were 2-3 previously. One thing I will say is that on a clear day the Sierra mountains are absolutely breathtaking though!
