Do You Want 53 Thousand Listings in One Day?

OhiotreasurysealIf you are in Ohio and you want to delve into the bowels of the state government, state treasurer Richard Condray may be needing your help as he has 53,010 properties that the state owns and has no idea what to do with them.

States accumulate property and typically do not have the mechanism to put it out in the marketplace. An enterprising agent or broker in Ohio could probably come up with a system to help the state move some of these properties that are stuck in bureaucratic limbo. Are you the person that would be willing to tell their friends how they got 53,010 listing in one day?

State Treasurer Richard Cordray started an inventory of state-owned properties a day after the Democrat was elected in November and has listed them online at www.ohiotreasurer.gov in an attempt to make some parcels available for private or public development.
He’s hoping Ohioans will peruse the database, find the underutilized properties in their communities and help the state figure out what to do with them. “Let’s not just hold them because we have them,” Cordray said at a news conference Wednesday.
The online database lists 53,010 parcels ranging in size from hundreds of acres to some less than an acre. The land is loosely estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, Cordray said. Cuyahoga County has the most properties with 7,979.  via the Chronicle-Telegram
