Famous Dallas Cowboys have gone on to successful real estate careers. Roger Staubach and Emmit Smith come to mind. However, Michael Irvin is now entering the world of real estate development joining the Tetra Cos. to develop mixed use real estate and low and moderate income housing.
Now I do not have anything personal against Michael Irvin, but he has had a very checkered past including multiple instances with the law over his drug and alcohol abuse intermixed with a very successful football career. While Staubach and Smith were the personification of hard work on the field and moderation off of it, Irvin just does not attract that confidence.
So, Michael, I wish you and Tetra well, but please do not expect me to invest in your venture.
Real estate meets the sports world as The Tetra Cos. is partnering with former NFL star and TV personality Michael Irvin. The partnership entity, TMI Group, will be a private equity fund focusing on Tetra’s development of mixed-use real estate projects across the southeast. TMI Group will kick off with the raising of $45 million in equity for development build outs valued at more than $180 million.
In addition to Irvin, TMI Group’s founders and principals include Gil Holt and Michael McNally. TMI’s endeavors will encompass retail, office, multi-family and industrial projects in the form of ground-up projects, as well as redevelopments. “If it makes sense and we think we can add value, we’ll do it,” a TMI spokesperson told CPN today.
The establishment of housing for low- and middle-income residents, a pursuit that is close to Irvin’s heart, will play a significant role in the fund’s activities.via CPN

I agree! I live in South Florida near the neighborhood this guy was supposed to “revitalize”. Just like his career, he held press conferences, attended city council meetings, and then did NOTHING! For the past three years him and his “partners” promised and did not deliver. You’ve got to question the business acumen of these Tetra guys to get in bed with this clown.
