Real Estate Agent, Samuel D’Costa, Found Dead in Bowie Maryland Home He Was Selling
A real estate agent was found dead in a home he was showing in Bowie, Maryland (just east of Washington D.C.) from gunshot wounds to the chest. The real estate agent, Samuel D’Costa, age 36, left his family to show the house last Wednesday, and was not seen since until he was found by a builder inspecting a job in the house.
The safety of real estate agents is a major concern these days. We are working on a post that I hope to have up tomorrow on a new product that may save some lives. But agents and their brokers need tools to help them.
A builder who was at the home in the 12800 block of 9th St. to inspect remodeling work found Samuel D’Costa, 36, of Beltsville, in the basement with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. The body was discovered about1:30 p.m. Friday.
“We really have more questions than answers at this point,” said Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a Prince George’s County police spokesman.
D’Costa’s family had filed a missing person’s report about 1 p.m. Thursday, Copeland said, after he didn’t come home Wednesday evening.
D’Costa’s sister-in-law, who traveled from her home near Burlington, N.C., to Beltsville on Friday, said D’Costa’s wife last saw him Wednesday, as he rushed out saying he had a lead on an interested buyer for a house.
Besides his wife, D’Costa also leaves behind two young sons – a 2-year-old and a 7-month-old. via baltimoresun.com.

It’s frightening to think that all of the times those of us in the profession have been told to be careful when showing properties… well, it’s frightening to think there is good reason to be scared. I’m sure I speak for all agents thoughout the country when I say our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
