Long the place for Washington and Wall Street’s power elite the sleepy towns of Maryland’s Eastern Shore may be in for a rude awakening if Michael Jackson moves to this rural enclave. Reports surfaced that Jackson is house hunting in St. Michaels on the Eastern Shire as the location provides a great deal of privacy.
Of course, if Michael Jackson moves to Maryland’s Eastern Shore and the paparatzi follow him, how much privacy will be left?
The Washington Post said Jackson’s Washington-based publicist, Raymone Bain, confirmed the weekend visit was to “scout out some summer houses”.
“He’s always admired the properties on the east coast because they have a lot of land. Neverland [Jackson's shuttered California estate] has 3,000 acres; he likes privacy. You can’t find as many properties like that on the west coast,” Mr Bain said.
If he does buy in St Michaels, a romantic tourist town in an area of corn farmers, crab and oyster fishermen and duck hunters, Jackson will be trading the flashy Hollywood elite he knows well for Washington’s grey-suited powerful and privileged. via ABC News

I wonder what effect paparazzi/ celebrity figures have on property values when they move to an area. I recently read that a neighbor of Paris Hilton couldn’t take the choppers and camera crews anymore and sold her house.

Not sure if celeb impact property value, but I would be happy to represent one in Oklahoma. Wonderful investment area for those on the west or east coast looking to sell their current homes and re-invest.

Michael recently left the mansion he was renting in Las Vegas on S. Monte Cristo Way. Although articles such as this exist about the pop star moving to the East coast, Michael apparently moved into a new location in Las Vegas. He says he moved due to security concerns, but others say he moved because he couldn’t pay the $1M+ lease that was due.
Anyway, he is now staying at 99 Spanish Gate Dr. in the monstrous house the Prince of Brunei built. It is probably the most expensive and luxorious piece of property in the Las Vegas area, if not anywhere.
