First there was the whole refurbishing craze of show teaching homeowners how to get their abode in good shape via Lowes or the Home Depot. Then came the plethora of flip it shows, but market conditions are making these shows dated very quickly. Now the good folks at TLC in conjunction with the BBC are rolling out a brand new show focusing on buyers test driving their new homes.

Yep, instead of the traditional walk through, the new show featuring Trading Spaces host Doug Wilson will allow a family the opportunity to view 3 homes and test drive 2 of them to see what the home really is like to live in. Are the neighbors loud? Are their dogs louder? Is their traffic going down the street all night long? Or is a perfect fit with a kitchen that makes breakfast automatically.

The premise is interesting to me. To be honest you never would buy a car without a test drive, why buy a home without seeing how it lives. They are casting the show in the New York Tri-state area right now so if you have a home for sale give them a call. The information will be below the cut line.

TLC, the network that brought you Trading Spaces and What Not to Wear, is now casting for a new show!

 Are you looking to buy your next home?  Do you want to know what it’s like to live in a home BEFORE you sign that mortgage?  Now you can try out the house before you buy it!  Tell us what you’re looking for in a new home, and we will match you up with three hot properties.

 Host, Doug Wilson (ex-Trading Spaces), will show you around the three houses and then you get to choose two to “road test.”  Spend the night! Cook in the kitchen, test out the shower, find out if the neighbors are loud, and see if it really does have enough closet space! You decide if the house is your dream home, before you make an offer.

1. We are looking for dynamic people with outgoing personalities who want to be on television.
2. At this time, we are only looking for applicants who currently live in THE NEW YORK TRI-STATE AREA (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Philadelphia) AND are looking for a new house in the New York tri-state area.
3. Applicants must be looking to choose a house within the next month.
4. Applicants must be over 21.
