The instances of real estate agents finding dead bodies at homes for sale keep occurring. I am not sure whether we are just noticing this or if it is a trend. The latest occurrence takes place just outside of Denver, Colorado in the suburban community of Morrison. The real estate agents said she and the buyer were looking out into the back yard and explained ”I was seeing, tree, rock, rock, tree, body.”
Yikes!
Imagine the surprise. The body had been there for a week or so according to authorities, and with how slow sales are in Denver the property probably had not been shown that often. While the crime scene is being processed the house has been taken off the market.
But a real estate agent and a prospective buyer found something they weren’t expecting on the property Monday. It was the body of a man, a body that apparently had been there for some time. “At first I thought, ‘Is somebody taking a siesta?’” said Brenda Flick, the real estate agent, today. “It was quickly very apparent from the state (of the body) that no, he wasn’t just taking a siesta.”
Flick, owner of RealPro Real Estate Professional, she and her client looked at each other in silence after they realized it was a body. “You’re not real sure what to say,” she said. Investigators are still trying to identify the man found outside the vacant home in the 8400 block of Scenic Drive. The case is being investigated as a homicide. Rocky Mountain News

A lot of people are spooked by deaths especially if it happens within the premises of your own property. It’s good that the crime was discovered before the buyer even decide to take it. That property maybe taken out of the market but I’m sure it will re-appear in the list once things cool down after a while.
In California, there is actually an existing law about disclosures of previous deaths that occur in the property even if ti happen sometime ago.

I once had a signed deal fall apart after the purchasers found a couple of grave markers on the property they hadn’t noticed earlier. I wonder what other strange-but-true stories are out there?

So did the house end up selling?

Sounds weird, I may need to check the closets at the Open Houses.
I was researching a move to the Denver Area. Can anyone recommend a site. I narrowed my search to the Winter Park area.

That would certainly make selling the house much harder. I can imagine that realtors call back to the seller, “I think I know why we haven’t been able to sell your house, you forgot to remove the dead bodies!”
Let’s hope it isn’t a trend. This real estate market isn’t that bad is it?
