Amazing. Sometimes people make suggestions as a move of sarcasm, but to make this a serious movement is as likely as me getting Botox and acting in porn movies. There's like a 1% chance. :)

I don't agree with a great many efforts made by bloggers much less RE bloggers and I would never jump on board. I guess I'd have to call it a "personal blog" so as not to have to pay dues or agree with jerk faces on HOW to blog (which defeats the Web 2.0 movement anyhow, am I right?).

OK, so I am sitting here cracking up laughing trying to imagine how this union would work out in an environment with Realtors and Bloggers.

NOT!

While the power that bloggers could wield if we banded together would be staggering, could you just imagine trying to:
1) Organize them?
2) Get them to agree on anything?
3) Getting them to send you a check?

Too funny!

I could see bloggers forming a professional association to promote their interests. That would make sense. In a free society many such associations are formed all the time, and there is nothing wrong with them.

Only statists would want to form a labor union as conventionally understood, as the purpose for such organizations is always to gain state privileges restricting access to the profession and making it a cartel. That goal is clearly implied in this case. 'Collective bargaining' only works if employers are forced to negotiate with the union using state power, and members are required to join the union to work in the industry. Otherwise employers can just ignore the union and negotiate with individuals.
