The real estate market has now shown the power to impact the economy and has a huge place in all of our lives, but 10 years ago the only places that did any teaching on real estate were typically in shopping center store fronts trying to teach would be agents how to pass a test and fulfill classroom requirements.
Now top notch universities are getting into the act and developing centers for real estate education to study and teach the macro and micro economical effects of the real estate industry and hopefully develop new theories that can help the industry be more successful.
Leonard Wood, who was a principal at Trammell Crow Residential has donated 4 million dollars for the Center For Real Estate Development that will soon carry his name. (via Triangle Business Journal) The school is part of the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and will provide a research and development plus outreach to develop new theories on real estate development.
The growth of university development into the issues that face the real estate industry can not hurt and probably help grow and create new techniques on developing trend analysis and development methods. This could smooth out the peaks and valleys that real estate tends to go through.
