95 Million Dollar Connecticut Estate For Sale By Liberty Travel Founder

HallendaleIf you are looking for a private estate in Stamford, Connecticut just outside of New York City, we have found it for you. The 263 acre estate owned by Liberty Travel founder Gilbert Haroche has come up for sale for the modest price tag of 95 million dollars.

The home is on one of the largest privately owned pieces of property this close to New York City and has over 5 miles of roads on the building. Significantly renovated over the past decade, the home has expanded from it’s 10,000 square foot footprint to over 20,000 square feet. In addition the property features a chapel built from materials from France.

What is even cooler is that the home has 2 entrances in New York and 2 entrances in Connecticut. So if you are a shady character you can escape one state and get to the other without leaving your property.

The main house at Hillandale is more than 20,000 square feet, with 23 rooms and eight bedrooms. The outdoor pool, tennis courts and more than half of the property extend across the border into Pound Ridge, N.Y. The Haroches bought it in 1992 for about $6.7 million. Gilbert Haroche is the owner and co-founder of Liberty Travel, which has more than 200 East Coast locations.
His wife, Charlene Haroche, says the estate is too big for the couple’s needs. They plan to move to a smaller residence in New York City. “We’ve had the house for 15 years, we’re getting old and it’s a little big for us,” she said. The couple spent millions to expand the original main house from 10,000 square feet to more than 20,000 square feet. They also added a stone chapel built from material imported from France.  via Newsday.com.
