A Treasure Coast real estate agent, Freddy Junior Semprun, is on the run from the FBI after bilking investors out of a cool million dollars. Growing up on Long Island the classic line for kids when they would fool you is “You are so dumb, you want to buy some swampland down in Florida?”
We were not sure exactly what it meant, but it did mean you were played for a fool.
Well Freddy Samprun ran the newest Florida scam of selling prime subdivision land in the Fellsmere and Frostproof, two Florida towns, during the land rush with fake deeds and tax records. Once he learned that the Feds were after him, he split for the woods.
The good scams never die, do they.
Freddy Junior Semprun, 41, of the 1900 block of Southwest Panther Trace, fled the area last month after he learned the federal agency was pursuing charges against him on seven counts of mail fraud, agents said. A grand jury indicted Semprun Thursday.
Semprun made phony land deals with more than 50 investors who believed the land he was selling was in Fellsmere and Frostproof, according to indictment papers unsealed Tuesday. Semprun ran the scam for at least 3 1/2 years, investigators said. via TCPalm
