Wexler Campaign Holds Mortgage On Florida Foreclosure

How trustworthy are our  politicians? Well, if US Representative Robert Wexler of Florida is any barometer, they do live on the edge.

You see, Robert Wexler of Florida does not own a house in Florida. His residence is his in-laws home in a senior community. His family lives in a home in Maryland where they go to school.

But to make matters even more absurd, news has come out that Wexler’s campaign does have a dog in the Florida real estate market. You see, his campaign with 1.5 million dollars has lent $150,000 as a second mortgage to one of Wexler’s campaign finance advisor’s. And now the property is in foreclosure.

So I guess you can say Wexler does now have an interest in property in Florida and not just his Maryland neighborhood.

But for all those who donated their hard earned money to Wexler’s campaign, do you think they are thrilled that the money will be lost in a foreclosure?

The $150,000 mortgage was collateral to secure a real estate investment by Wexler’s cash-flush campaign, said Eric Johnson, who is Wexler’s congressional chief of staff and also a consultant to his campaign.
The house on South Flagler Drive was purchased for $975,000 in January 2004 by brothers Roy and Armand Amico. Roy Amico is an investment broker who manages some of the money in Wexler’s campaign account, Johnson said.
Two months after the Amicos bought the house, a $150,000 second mortgage was recorded listing the Robert Wexler Congressional Committee as the mortgagee. via the  Palm Beach Post.
