HouseValues Renames Itself As Market Leader

Housevalues_logoHouseValues, the real estate lead generation company, changing it’s name to Market Leader. The company is not giving up the lead generation product that goes under the HouseValues name.

According to company sources what they will be doing is expanding the product to sell to different segments of the real estate market. Now they will be targeting brokerages, teams, and individual agents with their products.

Marketleader-logoI don’t know about you but why would one go through the expense and trouble of completely rebranding a company if everything was doing great. While I am not a fan of lead generation purchases, they are a proven method if scattered way of growing a real estate business. But to spend the money in a down market to re-brand and even change one’s stock symbol is pretty extreme if all is well.

Market Leader will trade on the Nasdaq exchange using the symbol LEDR starting Monday, said Chief Executive Ian Morris. At that time, the old symbol, SOLD, will be relinquished.

The HouseValues.com Web site, which lets homeowners receive appraisals from real estate agents, will continue operating under the same name.

Market Leader will also offer three other online products, each to a different group, Morris said.

Growth Leader is intended to help real estate agents generate sales prospects and convert those leads into clients.

RealtyGenerator does the same thing for brokerage companies.

Team Leader performs the same tasks for the increasingly popular groups of real estate professionals forming to better service clients, while also giving the leaders of those groups ways to help the members collaborate. Via SeattlePI.com

  1. I wouldn’t be suprised if it had anything to do with their investment in Active Rain. Now they can market to AR’s 100,000 + members as Market Leader instead of House Values and they probably think they will have a better conversion success with the new name.

  2. Agents would support these types of services do so at the expense of their own website (personal and company). They feed off the weak.

  3. [...] The Real Estate Bloggers report that HouseValues, the lead generation company has renamed and re-branded itself to Market Leader and is expanding it’s operations to sell to different segments of the real estate industry. They sensibly wonder at the reasons for this change, given the timing.
