Blagojevich’s Wife Now Target Of Real Estate Probe

Patti-Blagojevich-real-estateThe Chicago story of the Blagojevich’s nefarious dealings is getting wider. The Governor of Illinios wife is being investigated for some of her dealings as are real estate agent.

Think about it for a second, you are the wife of an influencial politician and you are working in a high commission job. What a great way to push a little quid pro quo money to the family. I can here the conversation now…

Blagojevich: Hey, do you want the appointment as chief dog catcher?

Sure, that would be awesome?

Blagojevich: Well, you know that will require you to move to Chicago, right?

Umm, I guess so…

Blagojevich: Well, here is how it is going to work. My wife, the real estate agent, is going to be your real estate agent.

Well, my sister is a real estate agent and I promised her…

Blagojevich: Sure fine, oh by the way, are you sure you want to be Chief Dog Catcher???

Well, I can tell her..

Blagojevich: Good. So my wife will refer you to your sister, this way we get the 25 percent commission, and then in Chicago you will use her and buy one of the house she has listed. Any questions?

Umm, I guess not…

Blagojevich: Didn’t think so.

And that my friends is how the game is played in Chicago, and how Patti Blagojevich had a thriving real estate practice. Oh, and remember the whole Obama and Tony Rezko real estate mess? Patti did a lot of deals with Tony Rezko.

U.S. prosecutors for several years had been investigating real estate sales involving Patricia “Patti” Blagojevich, a former residential real estate agent, before she was accused last week of helping her husband trade the vacant U.S. Senate seat of President-elect Barack Obama for personal gain, the Chicago Tribune reported Sunday.

Patti Blagojevich has had an eight-year working relationship with Antoin “Tony” Rezko, a once-influential developer and Blagojevich fundraiser who was found guilty this summer on influence-peddling charges, the newspaper said.

A real estate source told the Tribune that FBI agents had contacted her with questions about Blagojevich’s role in the 2004 sale of a $3.2 million Chicago home owned by an investment banker and contributor to the governor’s campaign fund. via UPI.com.

  1. Tom,

Hope and Change. Yep, that’s the ticket.

The more crap like this that comes out, the more it seems we’ve all been fooled. There is no change, and certainly no hope, when you realize the dirt in the closet. “Same as it ever was”, as the song goes.

If it looks like s*** and smells like s***, it’s gotta be s***. It’s sad, really.

  2. “And that my friends is how the game is played in Chicago”

Unfortunately, that is how the game is played the world over. And if you think this one was bad, just take a look at Wall street.

My favorite is Federation Island, Sochi, Russia. Just so happens the contractor that won the job is the ex-major of Moscow’s wife :)

  3. what a big giant cluster #$%@ and he won’t even step down.

  4. Hi, All:

I live in Chicago, and I’m constantly embarrassed by our politicians. We already have one governor in jail, and there was, amazingly, a push by some local politicians to have that governor, George Ryan, pardoned and released after he served just 1-and-a-half years of his six-year sentence. The only good that can come out of the Blagojevich mess is that I imagine the effort to free George Ryan is now dead. At least let’s hope so.
