I'm not inclined to assume the Obama administration is evil simply because they're dead wrong, but I do agree that they're dead wrong. They believe bigger government is actually better. They believe they can help. I think they're in earnest. Unfortunately, ignorance isn't always bliss; sometimes it walks you right out in front of an oncoming train.

The scary part is where we might end up if these programs don't work. Look at what Japan went through during the ninetys with the eight stimulus programs they did, nothing really helped. I think we need to have a clear service industry in the USA to be selling something of value and not be a nation of consultants instead of outsourcing and devaluing the dollar through rampant printing of money. If we're lucky, we may avoid huge inflation that appears to be coming.

This cartoon depicts our recent transition to socialism. Most of the general public has no idea about the repercussions of these stimulus packages and bailouts. The government is siezing total control right before our eyes.

PS-Don't forget the sheer fact that we have a tax system in place is a socialist ideal. The Founding Fathers were the ones who put that into place. I believe they were right for doing so....America is too great a nation, too ideal of a place to let it be treated like some cash cowing whore by greedy pimps and perverts....a little dignity and respect please....we're all obliged to give back...and if you make more, you give more, it's called a Progressive Tax System and it's been the best system for the past 200 years......so for the love of all things Holy...finish High School or at least pay attention and please try to comprehend the civics courses.....it'll go a long way in reducing all this nonsense and propaganda about socialism and Obama's "big government".

You're right on the money Lara. Our system is completely socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor. Corporate welfare is ok, you see, because big corporations can claim to create more jobs when they receive bailouts or subsidies...or they're deemed too big to fail. Partially true, but to a point, I dare a Big Oil CEO to show me numbers detailing how his billion dollar corporation can not afford to fund their own drilling equipment after 20-30 years of astronomical profits. See they like to "privatize profits" and "socialize losses." Don't give them subsidies, ok, they'll lay off 10,000 employees. Oh, you want a cap and trade, ok, they'll just slide that cost over to the consumer. Too many corporations have too much control...it's Uhhmmm, I believe it's called an Oligarchy when a company has so much control over the economic system. I think a better term is Tyrannical Capitalism, at least that's what has evolved in America. Adam Smith and the Founding Fathers are rolling over one by one right now...

I'd love to run a business where all my expenses are paid for pay the taxpayers and I reap all the profits...wouldn't you?

I have been so annoyed at those who blame Obama for what is going on. He has only been in power 2 months, there is no way that any of this is his fault. This all came from Republicans and their love of huge companies with all the power, all the money, and no oversight or regulations.

I agree 100%, nevertheless, what bothers me the most is that when publicly traded corporations behave irresponsibly with their investors money and cover their loses with false and manipulated reports to show profit. There are no rules to prevent that from happening and defending the current situation by hiding behind capitalism then asking tax payers to bail them out is an insult to capitalism. I say no bailouts and no more corruption. Capitalism must also be governed by rules and CEO's of publicly traded companies must be held accountable protecting investors. Banks are the ones who started this wave to socialist greed, we where told pay us now or the whole county is going to suffer and that was done before Obama was elected. Sad to see that Capitalism Magazine is not calling on every bank or corporation who asked for bailout money to be the root of the problem in our current bailout spree. So what are we trying to do here? Socialism for rich and capitalism for the poor.
