Are you looking to retire and live a great life? Aren’t we all. Well, if you are making your decision in this turbulent economic time, the first choice according to Forbes Magazine is Atlanta, Georgia.

Why Atlanta and not Miami? Glad you asked. The main reason is cost of living and housing. Living in Florida is still expensive. Housing prices have come down but are still at a premium compared to the Peach State. And don’t get me started about the taxes and insurance.

If Atlanta does not float your boat, check out the rest of the list, there are some great places to live throughout it.

  3. Go San Antonio…

  4. Austin, TX has crossed my mind. Florida has as well. I love the weather, the only problem is that they are both bleeding red states, and I dont know if I could live in a red state.

  5. Lot of affordable real estate in those cities.

  6. It’s good to finally see Las Vegas in a top 10 list for a good reason!

  7. Gotta admit, this is surprising. The way I see it, Atlanta is a great place to live young, middle aged, or old.

  8. Vero Beach, Florida should be added to that list as well. Many retired Fortune 500 CEO’s have found Vero Beach to be there home of choice.

  9. Can anyone give some specifics on the cost of Property Insurance in Orlando Florida? Taxes are psted on the county website but how much is property insurance say for a 1 floor slab,3 bedroom, 1.5 bath, block construction, 1300 sq. ft. 1 car attached garage, built in 1978 in the 32808 zipcode area?
