The Census Bureau has issued their annual population change estimate for 2006 for the different states in the country. Arizona led the pack with a change of just over 3.5 percent increase in population from 2005 to 2006. North Carolina joined the top 10 fastest growing states in the country for the first time this year. This survey counts all forms of immigration, not distinguishing between legal and illegal.
The Top 10 Fastest Growing States in 2006:
- Arizona 3.58 percent increase
- Nevada 3.45 percent increase
- Idaho 2.59 percent increase
- Georgia 2.53 percent increase
- Texas 2.52 percent increase
- Utah 2.39 percent increase
- North Carolina 2.12 percent increase
- Colorado 1.93 percent increase
- Florida 1.81 percent increase
- South Carolina 1.74 percent increase

And California added 50% more people than Arizona. California with its newly downward revised estimates continues to add the population of Wisconson every 18 months. Did we pick up 8 new Senators in the process of adding 4 States’ worth of population since 2000?
