Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Buying The 125 Million Dollar Saperstein Estate?

by Tom Royce on March 18, 2009

Saperstien MansionBack in April, 2007 the Saperstein Mansion was put up for sale. The 125 Million dollar mansion is one of the premier properties in the United States, and now one of the top entertainment couples may be buying the showpiece property.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are all set to celebrate their first wedding anniversary as the owners of one of Los Angeles’ most prestigious homes, according to reports.

The pop pair have put in an offer to buy the Saperstein Estate in Holmby Hills, after spending the past three months house hunting in California.

The palatial pad has reportedly been on the market for months at a whopping $125 million. It is not known what Carey and Cannon are paying for the place.

The French Chateau-style mansion was bought by David and Suzanne Saperstein in the early 1990s. The former society couple spent five years renovating the home, which they dubbed Fleur de Lys.

The big question is how much of a haircut did Suzanne Saperstein take to get the deal done? 30–40 percent like the rest of Los Angeles absorbed or did they get close the the 125,000,000 for the mansion.

Ick. Its so hard for me to watch people who are ridiculously rich buy ridiculously huge houses when there are starving people just a few miles away who cannot pay for food or shelter.

Looks extremely impressive from the outside. Too bad there aren't any more images of the interior.

Very cool information! I'm happy for them; both very talented individuals, in my opinion.

I did a little Google images search and saw a lot of pictures of the home. The home/estate/mansion is truly an amazing feat of design and architecture.

I wouldn’t know what to do whith all the extra rooms! it would take two days to see every part of it from end to end. I’m sure it’s very nice, though if I was in the market for a second home, I would like it to be in front of a lake myself.

That is my question? What do you do with 45,000 sq feet and all of those rooms. I had no idea Mariah had that kind of money.

Mariah Carey is the most succesful female artist in the history of recorded music. So she has alot of money. Remember she was married to Tommy Mattola so in the beginning of her career she probably had extremely lucrative record deals. Then in 2000 she signed that 80 million dollar record contract with virgin, which then paid her an additional 28 million so they could drop her from their label. And on top of that she writes and sings her songs, so she gets more money from album sales. She has sold over 200 million albums so thats alot of dough. Forbes estimates her worth at about 350-400 million.

WOW! she could of bought part of the wine country for that matter and price she could of bought the entire wine country and the state of california at a fire sale from arnold. Next I guess we will see a wine brand and a vineyard named after her. Oh yeah those are not for sale. I guess money can't buy everything.

Certainly they can buy the thing although I can't see many banks in this climate lending them money for a $75 million mortgage – unless they secure it with their future income from royalties, which is what led Michael Jackson's last part of his life into so much trouble. And even if they do this, the question is whether they can hold onto it – if musical tastes change, and all of the sudden they're not popular. Running a place like this would require a staff of 20 people – and unless it was opened to the public as a tourist attraction – would be a white elephant in the future. Good luck to them, even Bill Gates' house or Warren Buffet's (houses) cost a lot less – and they are the two richest people in the world. Should tell you something.

I know the couple is rich and all but I think this is impractical. But the house is huge. Maybe they are planning to have many kids. Just thinking.
