Roger Staubach Retires As CEO of The Staubach Co.

by Tom Royce on June 20, 2007

Roger_staubachRoger Staubach, NFL Hall of Famer and founder of The Staubach Co., has decided to step down as the CEO of the company he founded after his football career. He will remain with the company as executive chairman to serve as a figurehead but will relinquish day to day running of the company to Gregory O’Brien.

Roger Staubach is one of the few athletes I have looked up to. His college career at Navy, service to his country, then a successful pro career with the Cowboys showed that hard work and perseverance pays off (even when they were beating my beloved New York Giants). Few athletes ever taste the success they achieve on the field during the rest of their lives. Staubach has done so, and then some, during his.

Congratulations Roger.

The Staubach Co. announced the change Tuesday, along with what it called a long-planned recapitalization of the company that is expected to be complete by June 30.

Staubach has held the titles of chairman and CEO of the Dallas-based company. The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback said he would continue to work full-time. Gregory O’Brien, president of the company’s Northeast region, will become CEO. The company also announced other promotions and the addition of three executives to its board. via AZCentral.com

I hope you can pass a message to Roger Staubach just so that I can say hello and express my admiration of his many accomplishments and of him as a person and fellow human being. We served together in Vietnam (1965-1966) at Naval Support Activity Danang Vietnam. I was there when Roger took charge in the management of the POL activity in the hills above Danang after his predecessor ( a Lieutenant J.G., name withheld) was injured. GOD Bless You.
