Where is home. That is an interesting question for many. And the answer may be more permanent these days than it had been in the past.
American’s are moving less often. Add in the real estate slowdown and credit crunch and recently less often has turned into rarely.
And when you count the surge in real estate agents that entered the business, it is no surprise that it is getting harder to earn a commission. Less homes selling, less people moving, and more agents.
Some 38.6 million people moved between 2006-2007, the lowest number since 1982-1983, a period which also saw an economic downturn.
While a majority of Americans have moved region at least once in their lives, now nearly four in 10 have not left their home towns.
But it appears “home” is a relative concept.
While 26 percent said home is where they were born or raised, a similar number said it was where they currently reside, 18 percent said it is where they have lived the longest and four percent said it is where they went to high school. via Yahoo! News.

Interesting study, thanks for sharing it. It would probably make sense given the economic situation. With fewer and fewer being able to afford moving costs, getting loans, etc., they're just staying put.
