While many people tend to denigrate suburban communities, they do fulfill a need. I live in the suburbs and I could not imagine living in any other region. I could never live in a real rural community and raising children in an urban environment is not something I would do. So we moved to the suburbs. And we love it.
We have a yard for the boys to play in, lots of fields and recreational opportunities in our community. It has access to a major city, but none of the headaches of living in one. While I spend more in gas, I also have a great deal of choices for my family.
Over at Hot Property, they posted the Sprawl Index to measure the growth of suburbs in the country and where the suburbs are at their strongest.
