Martha Stewart and KB Homes Team Up To Build Metro Atlanta Subdivision

by Tom Royce on April 12, 2006

MarthaStewartMartha Stewart and KB Homes have teamed up to build a 480 acre subdivision with 800 homes to the southeast of metro Atlanta. The south Fulton property is in a part of Atlanta that has not been developed and will be along the Chattahoochie River.

This is an interesting brand extension for Martha Stewart, sort of like the golf industry having the top stars designing courses.

The development also will feature a Stewart-inspired community garden and nature trails, along with the customary swim-and-fitness amenities. Bruce Karatz, KB Home CEO and chairman, whimsically referred to the 800-home community as “Marthasville.”
For four years in the 19th century, that was the name of the city we now call Atlanta.
Just as city fathers once saw that settlement as the crossroads of commerce, Hampton Oaks developers see its style and location as a new direction for suburban living.
Stewart’s New England styling has proved its appeal to Southern buyers. The company already has a list of more than 700 interested home buyers for the Atlanta development, Karatz said. via ajc.com.

My new KB Home is located on the north east side of beautiful Dallas, Texas, a setting that combines the cultural and recreational offerings of a big city with a small town atmosphere. I love it!
