A rather lengthy but very interesting infographic from Coldwell Banker on how Baby Boomers are looking at real estate as they hit their golden years. What caught my eye is how the younger baby boomers look at real estate differently than the older part of the generation…

The baby boomer generation is getting bigger by the day. A lot of our clients at Surety Realty are baby boomers buying homes not only for themselves but also for their children. With low rates and a recovering real estate market (in some areas), buying homes makes more sense than having a 401K or an IRA account.
Either way, this generation make great investments across the board. Real estate will always be a great investment, given you can make your mortgage payments.
Very neat infographic. Thanks for sharing!
As a baby boomer myself I found this to be very interesting and pretty much true.
That was a very interesting info graphic. I didn't expect there to be such a difference between the groups.
Appreciate the Author.Very True
I love that you placed the information in a very easy to understand infographic!
Very interesting. My husband and I fall into the late boomers category and the info presented is spot on for the most part.
It's a very informative inforgraphic. The facts are amazing and yes, the strategy and target of these realtors bring them in the golden age. I've learned a lot, thanks!
Just what I was looking for! Thanks for the list and adding to it.
That's an interesting and well-designed infographic. Love the drop-down view with stats pasted over the buildings.
I was surprised at the high percentage of Boomers that either own or want to own investment property. 87% is much higher than I would've guessed.
I agree on you..That was awesome..
This is a fantastic list of blogs.
You comments are very well taken. No one anticipated this crisis and unfortunately for the baby boomers is the age factor. Hopefully, in the near future there will be a game plan to resolve the housing dilemma.
As the awareness of people rise regarding real estate investment , it can be expected that more and more people of different age groups will be interested with the idea.
Awesome info graphic! My family is a perfect example of this. My mom who is a late baby boomer just moved into a bigger home and is content to hang onto it for a while. My dad who is remarried and in a big house now just wants to down size and he is an early baby boomer.
Pretty cool infographic. I've seen quite a bit of downsizing and actually a trend to head downtown more so in the past couple of years from the boomers. It's becoming harder to push suburban mcmansions in my market rather than smaller condos and homes.
Appreciating article….beautifully described!!! well done
You really shows an interesting topic.
After reading your fabulous post I came to realize in what category should I belong my self.
Thanks for the wonderful thoughts – Sacramento Commercial Real Estate
Great use of real estate demographic & related market information. It often makes something hard to understand, easy to grasp. Thanks!
Awesome that you put all the info in very stylish infograph!
I love this info graphic Tom! And yes, I agree with the truthfulness of the information here based on my situation. I belong to the younger baby Boomers who prefer to live in a single family home because I know that this is something that I can afford without compromising my other needs and still be able to save some for the future of my kids! Looking forward for more quality posts Tom!
Very great infographic! Loved looking at this; thanks for sharing!
Its true that the baby boomer generation is getting bigger by the day, and I would like to appreciate the author for sharing a great article. I have been a real estate agent for more than 4 years now, but I have never been able to learn the true strategies of real estate market & about baby boomer generation, I got to know about REO BOOM a book that has it all. It was really helpful for me, I thought I should share it with you guys. Check it out at,

It is a very thin line when you speak about what buyers can afford and those effects on your children. The best part about the agency I work for is that we look at, to get you the best financing, while assuring
you don't pay too much for your new home and help you avoid costly mistakes. It is so important to be fiscally responsible in these harsh economic times and it puts my mind at ease knowing my agency has those intricate parts at the forefront. — Betty Kingery of http://www.mountaintolake.com.
This info graphic shows the trending increase of a start up real estate business until its expands and build branches in different area. Due to generation and getting into a good make up homes, there are a lot client who wants the style and design of new generation, that’s why baby boomers is one of the fashion company from the market in terms of real estate business.

I am working with some baby boomers who want to invest in Encinitas Homes for Sale, and most of them are really taking it slowly but surely when it comes to picking which home to invest in. Most of them really take their time considering all their options because they really want to be safjavascript: postComment(0);e with their decisions as they also treat home buying as a smart investment.
Nice post Tom! Your infographic clearly illustrates the real situation at present. I am currently looking into some listings of St. Petersburg homes for sale hoping to find a new home, which can be considered a wise investment. I want to explore all my options and with proper research and planning may reap the rewards later on.
A lot of these figures don't surprise me. I work with Boomers all the time and they are pretty evenly split down the middle in terms of their preference of a house vs. a condo for downsizing. Ironically I do get a few (had two recent such sales) in which the intention was to downsize but they actually wound up upsizing (rightsizing, I guess!). The 11% figure does surprise me somewhat. In my market (Madison, WI) you can audit university classes for FREE when you're a senior. Sweet! So if I were a late boomer looking to retire to Madison I'd want a place within a short commute to all that goodness.
good work i agree and appreciate the author keep posting
Congratulations for a well-designed infographic, Tom! I think that the 34% of younger baby boomers who are interested to buy their second home, want so because they are looking for some additional ways to earn profits. I agree because I guess I belong to one of them! Thanks for sharing this post, Tom!
I am very impressed with your presentation, Tom. This is eye candy and very interesting to look at. Plus, informative too! But baby boomer home purchasers need to strategize a good plan first considering that getting a property is a long term investment.
Great information and seems to be pretty much true.
This is another interesting post Tom. You have clearly captured the stats using your infograph. No more explaining to do.
This post is very informative plus the infograph illustrates the details much clearer. I think the large percentage of late boomers deciding to downsize their homes, and some preferring to move in to a townhouse or condo, is a cost cutting measure. This is due to the fact that late boomers are approaching retirement age and the primary source of income would be their pensions.
this infographics is simply amazing! the information are very well presented. though the large percentage of home buyers are baby boomers, we cannot also deny that people from different age groups are getting more interested to buy a home or any real estate property, especially the young adults who are now starting to appreciate the convenience of real estate investing at an early age.
It's very interesting how early and late baby boomers can have such a different way of thinking about real estate even though there is not a great difference in age. Here on the Outer Banks we see a lot of baby boomers of all types purchasing second homes, or rental property. Good statistics here in your article.
SO true! I can’t agree more. I belong to the group of late bloomers and you captured the trend really well

Nice info graphic. No more talking needed. You have captured the behaviors of your subject. Good job
Thanks for the information. This helps us real estate professionals meet our prospect buyers' needs with the data you have provided.
Nice infographic. I wish I could create a post as good as this one with a matching infographic to do away with the talking. This is easier to understand.
The infograph says it all. Great post. Invaluable information for all real estate professionals out there
This quite a unique post that targets a specific niche, the baby boomers. Great job you have done with the infographic.
I can’t get over with the infographic. Nice way of explaining things.

Baby boomers are our major buyers this year. They have figured out when to buy. Now is a good year. Nice infographic.
