Top 10 Most Expensive Communities For a 4 Bedroom Home

by Tom Royce on October 2, 2006

4bedroomIf you are looking to live in a typical priced middle class home, these are most expensive cities for a 4 bedroom, 2 and a half bath, 2,200 square foot home in a nice neighborhood. And as the numbers show, doing so in these towns it ain’t cheap.

9 out of the 10 homes are in California, which is no surprise as the appreciation in these towns is very high, and the barrier to new construction makes it very difficult to build.

CA          Santa Monica           $1,766,666

CA          Santa Barbara          $1,700,000

That house in the picture would easily cost over three million in Santa Monica or Beverly Hills. Make it a 1940 rambler with yellow shag carpet and eight feet of backyard and you might be able to get in at 1.8.
