The closing is tomorrow and there are still a couple of things that need to be done to make sure it goes smoothly. If one them is cleaning the attic in 100 degree weather, tell the new owners that it will be done when the heat breaks. A Wilmington, NC agent was prepping a home for the closing and succumbed to heat exhaustion while cleaning up the attic.
Your typical HVAC guy is up in attics year round and has gotten his body prepared for the heat and knows when to back off. Real estate agents typically do not and attics can be very dangerous in extreme heat.
A prominent real estate agent has died and the heat may have been a factor. Paul Sullins worked for Network Real Estate. While authorities don’t know for sure why he died unexpectedly, they think the weather may have something to do with it.
Sullins was found on the porch of a home on South 6th Street in downtown Wilmington around 10:00 Wednesday morning. Sullins was fixing up the home after he had sold it.
Police say foul play is not a factor and they’re awaiting autopsy results from Jacksonville, which could take up to 90 days.
The heat is affecting many in the area this week. Since Monday, more than a dozen people with heat related symptoms have been treated at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. via WECT TV6
