I post these attack stories not to be sensational but instead to remind real estate agents to be careful out there. With the recent rise in foreclosures and declining values, disturbed people may have you higher on the list of people whom they blame for their ills.
This story comes from Liberty Township, Ohio. The agent obviously knew that there was an issue and probably should have called the police once a stranger in a ski mask entered the home the first time.
I am sure most law enforcement personnel will agree that making a call even when you are not sure is the smart move. They would rather come out 10 times for a false alarm than have to help an actual attack on an agent.
A man wearing a ski mask showed up at a model home in the 5300 block of Elmwood Lane around 6 p.m. Sunday, an agent for Fischer Homes told police.
She asked the man to leave and closed the model home’s door but found him standing inside a garage. The man grabbed her, but she fought him off. Then he fled on foot toward Cincinnati-Dayton Road.
Mason police brought a dog to try to track the suspect, but couldn’t find him.
The man stood about 5-foot-6, with a thin build, and was wearing dark clothing, the agent told investigators.
