Top 10 Fastest Growing States in the United States 2007-2008

Chart_upDo you want to live in a state that is growing rapidly? Then head to the Mountain West where six of the top 10 fastest growing states are located or the Southeast where 3 are located.

Texas led the way in pure numbers with nearly half a million people moving there in the past year. Utah saw the largest percentage gain at 2.5 percent.

With all the negative news about Arizona’s housing market it was surprising to see that 146,000 people moved into the state. Think about how bad the housing market would have been if the population had been stagnant.

Well I am shocked that Nevada isn't listed in the top 10?

I'm shocked too – Nevada was leading the way a year or two ago. Texas seems to be on every positive top 10 list there is and Arizona seems to make many of the top 10 negative lists…it's good to see some good news about Arizona.

Unfortunately, xenophobes also chased thousands of people out of Arizona in 2008. This argues that 2009 will be much better than anyone foresees. And it's going to be a cold, cold winter…
