Remember the big cities dont have nearly as much crime because the justice department labels crimes differently these days. For instance first degree murder would be reduced to manslaughter which it doesnt count in murder statistics as a plausible murder crime. They can find 500 murdered victims and reduce a percentage of them as accidental deaths to keep the crime relatively low so it doesnt cause a white flight like back in the late 70s. Also the ones representing there hoods should realize your not the one shot and the one pulling the trigger. Individuals who take pride in the urban decay and blight crimes are subject to labeled as wanna bees and so on. Irvington NJ would most defintely be posted as the most dangerous city in the nation but the city's population remain relatively small compared to cities like N.O and Detroit. 55 murders out 78,000 people seems shocking if you ask me.

A lot of you really need to go back to kindergarten and learn to spell correctly. If you cannot spell 'for' then you are in very poor shape. Talking about how "Bad" your city is makes you look like an ignorant fool.

Anyway. I'm very surprised St. Louis is on here instead of East St. Louis. I have always been warned to stay out of East St. Louis.

Bad things happen ALL the time EVERYWHERE. It makes no difference the color of your skin or where you are from. The only thing that makes a difference is how you react to things.

Camden has always been a wasteland ever since I can remember Camden was always in the top 3 most dangerous cities in the country. And thats pretty surprising seeing that their population isn't more than 100,000 people. People who wanna commit suicide but are too afraid to do it themselves should just plan a trip to Camden. They'll have no problem accomdating your desire to leave the earth.

San Diego, by far the most dangerous city in the world. (sarcasm)

Haha, The only real ghetto I've been to is southcentral LA and Compton, I've never been there at night either. San Diego's ghetto, (southeast) is nothing compared to these cities because I can walk around by myself (I'm 16 by the way) at night and nothing will happen to me. I have cousins and other relatives that live in Detroit and they tell me its pretty rough out there. Lots of Chaldeans there (thats what I am = D) but they're not really what makes the place ghetto.

BTW, surprised not to see Compton up there. Also Brooklyn, Bronx, Philly, Cleveland, Miami. Eh, oh well. Glad I don't live in the ghetto. I actually live in a very nice part in East County called Rancho San Diego. Complete oppisite of ghetto, as oppisite of ghetto as it gets.

Holy shit. How ignorant can people be glorifying a bunch of negativity. LOL to the dude bragging about how hard San Diego is. I moved to San Diego from Staten Is, NYC and it's the safest city as a whole as a city can possibly be (thas why I moved here). Been through what some say is the worst parts of SD but I'd have no problem at all walking through these parts and that's what I like about SD. Most people on this thread would look at my move as being soft, and few would look at it as being wise, and that's what separates the ignorant fools (the majority of this thread) and the smarter beings aimed at getting the most out of life.

No matter what city your in or hood the murders happen only because of retaliation, drugs and money. Just troubled souls misguided and deprived of a chance at life because of the lifestyle they've been raised around. What people dont understand about gangstas well at least the real niggas is things get hard and there is no one to have your back or thats what we were tricked into believing. As a minority we're afraid of our own community and i myself decided to see why. Oakland for example is known as Baby Iraq and in my opinion its just a way of obtaining an identity but as i was out there meeting different people from different hoods North, East, West Oakland and all the real killas dam near all have the same reasons for takin a life and its all because of false pride and retaliation all caused by them bein hurt and in a "Thugs" society there is no dealing with emotions and its crazy because if we we're to all come together and decide to lay down a stable foundation for our children and prepare them for the future instead of being selfish and only living for the moment. We hold our own destiny's in our own hand i believe its time to hang up the excuses and learn how once again show love because all we are doing is destroying ourselves, I pray for a change and remember my brothas and sistas of all ethnic backrounds we are our own enemy stop playing into the hands of evil and learn to love each other again stop the drama stop the dispute over colors stop the excuses and remember how it feels to love. God Bless all.

Key cities off the list include Birmingham, AL.

Detroit, MI St. Louis, MO; Richmond, CA, Detroit, MI and Oakland,CA are also cities to avoid. I travel and have been to all these cities. It's more than perception–it's statistics and experience. Vallejo,CA is there, too, and because the city went bankrupt they just fired half their police officers!

I really can't believe how many people are proud of their city's violence. It's because of knuckle heads like you that there's violence in the first place, and I really don't care to hear the sorry ass excuse that that's all you've ever known because I grew up rough and poor as hell, so guess what I did…..I got a fuckin job and moved away. So keep tellin yourself how hood you are, but don't shy away from the fact that you're a complete joke and will never amount to anything with the attitude you have but I'm sure you smart guys already knew that.

Oakland has mad love. I live in a predominantly African American / Hispanic location (I'm white). Nothing but love in Oakland. More soo than any major east coast city I've lived in. Don't believe the hype..it's media blowing shit outta proportion. We got cannabis clubs (and Oakland is the first and only City to set up a tax category for cannibus industry). Cops have nothing but love for all the Ganja smokers. What you know about Measure Z?!? For real…mad love. Oakland should be a model city for the rest of the country. Believe it, not all these juckets posting about a City they just read about on the internet.

You guys are just plain ignorant! Maybe if you people that are so ‘excited’ by being named, one of the most dangerous cities in America, would read a book 'your' city wouldn't be on the list in the first place.

I'm a 22year black woman and I thought as a people, we would could be proud of ourselves for something other than destruction and murder. What about education and propriety? Or are any of those things even important anymore? I swear black people are the first to claim injustice but refuse to help themselves out of unjust situations. I’m in no way claiming that black people as a whole are reflective of some of the black people on this blog, but this blog isn’t helping ease my case either. Grow up and join the rest of us in a place I affectionately call… The Real World.

As for the white people on this board… what the hell is wrong with some of you as of late? I’m almost wholly sure that you’re threatened by black people. Lets not forget who taught black people to kill, steal and manipulate. Now that you’re no longer able to truly profit from these black people, don’t tuck you’re tail and run, finger point and claim innocent. Crime and ignorance is an AMERICAN problem and until we climb down off our goddamn high horse and begin working together we’ll never get anywhere.

L.A. County (10 million people) has had 2,700 murders since January 1st 2007. But you gotta remember that half of the cities in L.A. County are very nice and only have like 3 murders a year. You also gotta remember L.A. probably has the highest attemped murder rate in the country. People get shot everyday but they don’t always die. It’s hard to aim straight from a moving vehicle not that I would know. For a while I wanted out of here I thought about moving to the east coast but now I know its way worse over there lots of blacks and its way uglier over there.

You live in a city of trash, with trash because you are trash. Instead of trying to do better for your fellow man, for neiborhood, for yourself, your children, you choose to shit where you eat. There was a famous saying in Detroit during the riots. Burn mutha f_cka Burn. And burn it did. They burn down there own city, streets homes and business. When there was nothin left but ash! They quikly seen that they had to live in that burn down city.

I don’t think that this list is accurate because every city all over the world got some criminals and some of them although the city is a hight class you may find there worst people ever. The type of the city wasn’t an indicator to measure how dangerous it is.
