Who is the biggest landowner in California? Who owns nearly 85% of the land in Nevada?
Why it is your federal government out of Washington. Now most of the land that is owned by the United States government is not the highest grade land, but seeing the quantity in these states that the Feds own is mind blowing.
So what is my recommendation to the Feds who are running enormous deficits?
How about selling some of the land to offset the costs of these bailout programs. There have to be some amazing properties that would command high prices even in a down real estate market.
But that would be logical, not something we expect to come out of Washington, would it?
Top 10 States With The Highest Level of Federal Land Ownership

- Idaho 50.2%
- Arizona 48.1%
- California 45.3%
- Wyoming 42.3%
- New Mexico 41.8%

The last thing we need is our Government selling off Land to anyone. First off, not many people are going to be even able to afford the large parcels of land. Mainly it will be offshore banks and companies that purchase them. OF course these new owners will charge the tax paying Americans who maintain the land with our Tax money to use the land. This is already being considered in California with existing roadways, bridges, airports etc.
I can see it now, "The Sony Yellowstone National Park. Our National parks will become like sporting arenas.
I also disagree, our National Parks are some of the richest, most beautiful, fertile land in all of North America.
I agree they should sell the land then institute a new federal property tax and tax the f*ck out of it.
Of course, if people really valued these assets for their intrinsic value, ie the natural beauty of the place, they will undoubtedly be willing to expend their resources to maintain and protect these facilities… Let us vote with dollars. If the public supports these programs, let them do so directly by financing purchase and maintenance through admission costs… don’t expect the rest of us to subsidize your holiday. I’m from California, and I’m too busy working to make my myriad tax payments to spend time at yosemite.
They should slowly and systematically sell off the land to individuals not Corportations. They should make sure any body trying to buy the land does not allready own any large tracts of land. They should also sell the land at bargain basement prices so most anybody can afford it. The federal government should'nt be allowed to tax or own much of anything they are the worst stuerds of everything they own. This would create opportunity, and stimulate our economy and let it grow again. Socialist ideas don't work won't work, and hav'nt worked any where they've been tryed ever period! You've been defeated destroyed embarassed wiped out humiliated so shut up liberal! Let freedom reign and GOD bless america!
